If you were to try to sell your home before and after waterproofing there could be up to a 30% difference in price. On a $200,000 home that would be up to a $60,000 difference. There is no waterproofing technique that we know of that costs that much to get done. I suppose it depends on how much water is on the floor and how much mold is on the walls but you can figure your depreciation on at least 4 times the repair. And up to 20 times the repair if there is standing water or mold. I suppose all that makes sense. Another factor that would affect the price would be the time it takes to get the repair done.... |

We have several customers that get a leak fixed fast. In this case there is no collateral damage. On the other hand we have several customers that wait a few years to get repairs done. Waiting gives time for the mold to grow and make black stains on the walls, floors, molding, and furniture. Along with black stains the smell of mold can get pretty bad. People do not like that smell. At that case the carpet must be removed and hauled out. If a repair is caught early the carpet can be lifted up and a fan placed on it to dry it out quickly before mold grows. Remember to always use a de-humidifier in a basement because humidity is heavy and falls down the stairway causing more in the basement than upstairs. In this case time is money.... |
